Pandora closes stores across globe

Pandora has announced the temporary closure of many of its stores in order to “support the efforts” to limit the spread of Covid-19. In its latest statement, the group confirmed that it had temporarily closed all owned and operated stores in the United States, Italy, Germany, France and Spain. In its remaining European markets, it said that the store network had been impacted “to some degree”. Most company offices have also closed, and office staff are working from home. Its online stores remain open in all markets, offering full access to its products. Its crafting facilities in Thailand also continue to operate “without notable impact” from the pandemic, though the group is taking “significant precautions” to keep its operations stable. Although its UK stores remain open for the time being, the group has introduced “frequent and extensive” cleaning across its stores. Pandora UK has asked all customers to keep a one metre distance from one another when shopping, limited customer numbers and asked people to refrain from trying on jewellery in-store. Alexander Lacik, CEO, said: “As the world is fighting the coronavirus, it continues to be our top priority to keep our employees and customers safe. “In these difficult times, Pandora is committed to support our employees as much as we can. When stores close, we will continue normal scheduled base pay for at least 8 weeks from when staff are sent home.” He added: “By then, we hope the situation will have improved, but we will adjust our approach, if necessary. Where available, we will seek support from relevant government relief programmes to help fund salary payment during closures. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our dedicated employees who work tirelessly to service our customers even under these difficult circumstances.”
